Guest krissie Posted February 7, 2005 Hi Patti, Sorry it's been a few days. My six year old son fractured his foot last week. needless to say it has been hard to get to the computer. My appointment went great, everyone was so nice. I am debating on the surgery though. After I looked at the eating schedule and talked to the nutritionist ( some foods will stay down some wont). I thought that anyone with or without the surgery would loose weight on that type of diet overhaul. So why not do it on my own? What do you think? Let me know please and be honest. Thanks talk to you soon Krissie
patty 0 Posted February 7, 2005 Krissie, For me the hardest part of any diet is keeping the weight off. I believe that with the lap band I will have a tool that will help me. I have always been able to lose weight. Keeping it off is my problem. The fact that the band is adjustable and removable is what sold me on it. I am sure there will be foods that I wont be able to eat after I get banded. But there isnt any food that I cant live without. I dont think that will be a problem for me. Good luck in your decision. hopefull 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Hi..I'm from the Worcester Area. I'm going thru U-Mass. It takes about 9 months of prep work from your first vist to having the banding done. I started in November. I've lost 15 lbs just going thru the process. I'm really looking forward to feeling better and looking better. Would love to talk with you all. hopefull 0 Posted February 24, 2005 My surgery is not yet scheduled. My next step in this journey is to meet for a follow-up with the nutritionist and the behavior medicine doc. Hopefully by June I will have my surgery. "Weighting" is the hard part, but U-Mass does keep you busy and on task. I just e-mailed the group from U-mass that I am on track with to join us. jenlaur1 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Just started my whole process at NEMC. Saw Dr. Greenberg last week, had my first behavorial change group meeting, go to orientation, another behav. chng. grp mtg and meet with Dr. Saltzman this week. Every week of March is busy with all these meetings at least twice a week. I have to drive in from Shrewsbury, but I'll manage since it's only for a month. What's amazing to me is how quickly this is happening. I tried UMass a couple of years ago and surgery was 8 mo's to a year out from first meeting. Tried contacting them again, recently, and never got a live voice on the phone and my messages were never returned, so not wanting to waste any more of my time, I turned to NEMC and I'm glad I did. Dr. Greenberg is a real sweetie, Michelle is very helpful and I have a real nice group of people in my Behav. Chg. Group. Looking forward to getting all of this behind me so that I can have the surgery. Cathy
