BlueEyes502 11 Posted February 21, 2016 Omg ya'll, it's tomorrow! I'm freaking out a little. I've never had surgery before and I've never left my son before. My nerves are bad...
songsmith 334 Posted February 21, 2016 <SNIP> I didn't know until today I will have to give myself an injection each day for 30 days after the surgery. I have never had surgery before nor given myself shots, I am ok now but I hate to see how nervous I will be feeling o surgery day. I came home with a shopping bag full of paperwork I had to sign and others I need to read including a detailed followup schedule for the next 18 months. Its been 7 months in the making but it will finally be happening and I am so glad and happy and hope and pray with the additional weight loss I will be walking soon. I did start a blog in 2008 when I was denied and continued it when I started again this year. If anyone is interested in following my progress the url is in my signature. I didn't know about the shots until I had my pre-op appointment either. I was all, "You're kidding, right?" But they aren't that bad. I had to watch a short DVD explaining how to do things. Remember to put it in swiftly (it will hurt if you go slow). I don't feel the needle at all, but I can feel the medicine once I depress the plunger. It's not bad. Just feels counter-survival to stab yourself with sharp things. Mine are only for a week post-op, but yours might be different because of the multiple procedures. My surgeon is very concerned about blood clots and pneumonia in his patients. Some surgeons don't make you take the shots at all. So happy the day is finally arriving. It's okay to shake walking into the hospital. You'll be out cold when your surgery happens, so the shaking will stop when it's important to stay still! ssflbelle 829 Posted February 21, 2016 Yep songsmith every day for 30 days I have to give myself the shot. They taught me in the hospital how to do it. Once I knew how I was fine. 2 more days to go and I am done with the shots. Thank goodness those shots cost me $150.00 copay for the 30 days. I see the surgeon on Friday for my 1 month followup. I am doing great but frustrated that the weight hasn't gone down since Feb 5th. I have been in a stall now for 2 weeks. It seems crazy but I keep remembering what I read in the thread "Embrace the stall". I just hope some more weight comes off otherwise I will be seeing the Dr with a 20 pound loss for the month. I don't think he will be too happy with that as he expects me to lose 90 pounds in 6 months.
MrsRP 36 Posted February 24, 2016 Update I received a letter today from the insurance company. Denied. They say the surgeon didn't provide proof of nutritional counseling or behavior modification consults. Which I did both. So they didn't say anything about BMI or comorbidities. Tomorrow I'm stopping by with the letter so they can appeal.

perforce 243 Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) I will be seeing the Dr with a 20 pound loss for the month. I don't think he will be too happy with that as he expects me to lose 90 pounds in 6 months. Why will he/she not be happy? 90lbs in 6 months is 15lbs a month, so you're actually a little above target? Edited February 25, 2016 by perforce
