January or February 2016 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone that's already been sleeved. What did you bring with you that is a must have the first few days? I'm going to be a few hours from home so I need to be prepared. BTW, my surgery is outpatient so I won't be in the hospital.

Hello! Since you are outpatient you won't need anything to take into the hospital, but I would leave a pillow in your vehicle for the trip home. I put mine between my belly and the seatbelt for added support on the bumpy ride home, and to protect my incisions from the seatbelt rubbing against them. I can't imagine having it outpatient! Wishing you all the best in your surgery and recovery!

Well, I'm going to be staying close to the surgery center for a few days so I won't be going home immediately.

What can the average hospital stay be like?

I spent one night. Was released the afternoon the day after. Hospital stay went well except I wanted to sleep and the nurses came and went all night long! Couldn't wait to get home where I could really relax and sleep undisturbed! Good luck!

@@jennah pennycuff Thank you! Wishing you all the best on your journey as well!

I was also outpatient. My mom and I stayed in a hotel down the road overnight and I went back to visit surgeon next morning to remove drain etc. I would suggest go ahead and have a bottle or two of Water to sip on, slippers, small pillow for between belly and seat belt, and I also took a few extra pillows to help prop me in the hotel bed that first night. Other than that I didn't use anything other than my meds and I slept a lot. If someone is coming with you, have them bring entertainment like a tablet or a book. I think I bored my mom but she had a book during surgery and the tv in the hotel :) good luck!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
