What's your point Babbs? Am I not allowed to contribute? I'm maintaining now and I relate to losing past goal.

Just seeing this thread.

Was a Stephen King fan.....sorta lost touch with his work shortly after reading Thinner. Not sure why exactly....just kind of lost interest.

Very interested in your expertness here, though.

I'm early on in the process and can easily, very easily get thrown off track by sugar, carbs and junk food. I'm interested seeing how it gets once I"m much further out.

I'm actually encouraged by this thread, though.....hoping I have similar experiences later on.

For what it's worth........you look super. Seriously super. The cookie baking pic shows you looking great. You've gotta be mighty pleased with your progress. You've done really well.

Living like the hombre in Thinner right now......how would you describe your activity level ?

If you are exercising frequently and an overall active person I'm betting your metabolism is elevated and you've become a calorie burning machine.

I really feel that is the key for me, too. The losing is always improved when I maintain high activity.

Again, amazing progress and looking forward to seeing the further experiences that come.

Yes, of course you're allowed to contribute. But I was under the impression that you were anorexic and struggling to stop losing, and was panicking about it and even went to treatment for it. Now you're even thinner and okay with it? That's why I guess I'm missing something here?

Actually my weight is exactly the same as when I went into treatment. And yes, I'm okay with it as long as I am not losing more. My goal was never to gain, it was to learn to maintain. My BMI is 19 which is healthy and has been for a few months now.

But this thread isn't about me. Let's get back on track.

I've read "thinner" and thought is was one of Kings scarier stories!! Losing too much weight can be as upsetting as going the opposite direction. After trying to lose weight ones whole life, and finally have success, it can be very challenging to slow the roll.

I don't know how many people after wls actually do become underweight. I don't think it's very common, but it certainly must happen. You always here the story " my best friends neighbors friends daughter had that surgery and now she is a bag of bones!" But I've only seen 2 or 3 people post on BP that I would consider underweight.

One thing is that once we start to reach our set point or ideal weight, our bodies regulate that by increasing hunger, cooling down, etc. It's really hard to lose the lower you go.

I would know, I'm the anorexic chic on here. ????????

With that horrible torture device in your mouth I would expect you to lose a few pounds. Don't stress about it. Just worry about fixing what ever is going on and getting in any nutrients you can and worry about your weight later. No point in obsessing over something you have so little control over right now.

That thing is temporary. If you lose a few more pounds because of it, OH WELL. Getting worked up about it isn't going to change it, it's only going to make the problem worse.

You will be fine. Once that thing is out of your mouth, you can go back to normal and put those pounds back on if you need to. In the meantime, hit the gym to maintain your muscle tone and perhaps a few extra workouts will stimulate your appetite. :D

@@Dub Just seeing this. My activity levels is working, that's it. I don't exercise, I've been VERY honest about that! Which is another reason why I'm perplexed about the whole deal. I lost another two lbs but this time it's because eating is just exhausting. Manage Cookies and some steamed broccli today oh and 2 protien shakes so I don't croak. I know that's why I lost weight but I'm at work most days and eating it too time consuming and down right gross. I bring a toothbrush with me but I feel like I can't get that damn thing clean enough without my Water pick. I eat when I get home. So it's Protein Shake on the way to work then one on the way home sometimes. I'm getting better with this thing. Thanks for the compliments! You're doing wonderful yourself! I'm picking broccoli babies out of this thing right now ugh!!

I do mud runs several times a year and I am NOT the running type. The obstacles are fun and you get to quit running at every single one. I hate running.

Thank you.......and thank you for your insight.

I sometimes feel guilty about not being able to hit the gym before now......yet already losing that exact same amount of weight I lost in my most successful diet & gym push.

Still hoping to get back there soon as it was a source of release that I needed. Taxing and tough.....leaving there feeling spent and a little sore was a feeling that I enjoyed.

I'll get back there soon. Back is better....knees are gonna be if I have to hobble them with hammers.

Work does burn a lot of calories for me......according to FitBit it burns about twice what I consume each day.

Works for me.

I'll spare you with progress pics until I can rock it like you did on the cookie pic. I'm guessing the one year mark is a good time for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
