Hi everyone!

Was wondering have any of your doctors or nutritionist given you a calorie goal?

I had one that changed every few months. It should be based on your activity level and how much weight you need to lose. Call your NUT and discuss it with her.

I am almost 4 months out and was never given a calorie limit/target. I was told to eat Protein, lots of protein and stop eating when I feel full, which is still about 1/2 cup of anything. The only food I cannot tolerate is red meat, which I always loved. I think the texture of steak, roast beef, etc is just too much and careful chewing does not break it down. I find my daily calorie intake is in the 700-800 range.

I was getting about 600 per day until my NUT told me to work toward 1000 calories and at least 75 Protein. That was at my 3 month post op session with my NUT. I agree with contacting your NUT to see what she/he suggests. All the best!

I wish I had that problem. I can tolerate like 1 chicken thigh and im full. I feel like im eating to much, mentally. My calorie intake todag was 1300. I had a thigh for Breakfast, a lean cusine for lunch amd dinner and my shake for snack.

These responses are why you need to speak with your NUT. Every program is different. I was 400 -600 calories for the first 3 mths, 600 - 800 until month 8. I now eat 1000 -1100 and I am 14mths out. My Protein goal is 100 gms of protein an I work out 4 -6 days a week.

Nope, never given calorie guidelines. Just Protein and Water.

But personally, I never let myself stay low for very long. Didn't want my metabolism slowing down. Although I never tracked or counted, a couple spot checks showed 600-800 calories at 3 months, 1000 calories at 6 months, 1200 at 8 months and maintaining at 14 months at 1400-1600. That was 10 months ago and still maintaining but I have no idea what my calories are.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
