Yesterday was my big day too! How is everyone holding up? I had a rough first night, lots of nausea and vomiting, but much better today!

This was my first night. I have pain and nausea that comes and goes. I'm hoping today is a little easier. I'm hoping to go home tonight.

Surgery went smoothly and I am home now. Haven't had any nausea and limited pain, more aching than pain. Sneezed three times today and that was a challenge!!!

My shakes taste terrible ......just do not want food but forcing myself to get the 60 g Protein in and all the liquid.

Wow, I am already struggling with what to eat. My diet calls for strained blenderized Soups, Protein shakes, sugar free pudding or apple sauce, smoothies, greek yogurt. Everything is sweet! Tried strained cream of chicken Soup tonite but couldn't eat much of it.

Any suggestions for foods that have worked for you so far that aren't sweet. Everything just seems to be sweet.

And sweet isn't getting it . . .isn't that amazing?

I had my surgery December 22. Laying in hospital bed now, hope to be discharged today. So far so good. First night very uncomfortable but has gotten better. Hard to sip and get enough liquids in. But working on it while in the hospital. Good luck everyone!

I had my surgery the 22nd as well. I came home yesterday. Not really in much pain, just hard to get all the fluids I need. Any advice?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
