Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery December 21st. I a have been on the pre-op diet for 7 days but I screwed up a wee bit yesterday. I didn't go nuts but I did get a taste but no sugar. I am scared but going to do it anyway. I just cannot stay like this any more. I want to look not the fattest person in the room.

I am on the pre diet for just and have lost 7 lbs. already. I am struggling, tho, to get the exercise in. I must do better. I found it really confusing to remember when to take my regular meds, when to take the Vitamins, etc . I made out timetable for each day in 2 hour incremebts and entered what I should be having in foods, liquids, meds, Vitamins, and it is helping me a lot stay on track.

Tomorrow is the day but I am nervous. I lost 9 lbs on the pre op diet and I did OK holding to what I was allowed to eat pretty much, but lousy at the liquids and at exercise.

I don't want to fail at this but I realize I must have more self discipline. Anyone else out there feeling the same as me?

Yes. Had a really hard time sticking to the liquid diet. For the most part I did. But self discipline is the key. I remind myself that I can control what I put in my mouth. When I do that I can walk away most times and not look back. Hope that helps.

Tomorrow (the 22nd) is my big day too! I'm super excited, but apparently more nervous than I'll admit to...I've been dropping everything I pick up today!

Looking forward to a new beginning and a healthier year next year. Let's all keep each other on track and Celebrate our successes together!

Good luck to all of us!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
