LadiSani 59 Posted December 9, 2015 When I started this journey I though I wad fast with HBP. During this process we found diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol. Went today for the EKG and it was abnormal! I want to go into a hole and cry. I am beginning to think this surgery will never happen.
Sophie74656 1,572 Posted December 9, 2015 hang in there! My ekg came back abnormal too and I had to go for an echo but that came back normal. Because it's basically elective surgery the surgeons are generally over cautions and check everything. Before my surgery I must have gone to a dozen different doctors. i'm sure you;ll be fine and will have the surgery. Personally I'm kind of glad I had to go through a lot of stuff pre op because it helps me stay on track. I keep thinking to myself, "I didn't go through all this hell to mess it up with bad choices now"
MIMISAN 404 Posted December 9, 2015 My EKG was fine but a PET Scan showed and Abnormality and I ended up getting heart stints!
Jen2015 2 Posted December 9, 2015 My EKG was abnormal too. Dr did stress test with dye. Everything was fine. But since I had high blood pressure. He said a lot of the times your HBP can go unnoticed for a while which damages your heart and then gives that abnormal reading. Every Time I go in for EKG now they measure from abnormal one. Don't stress. You'll be fine.
jennaggie 43 Posted December 10, 2015 I feel like this is a great time to check all of that out! I considered it a blessing that I chose to pursue this and found a couple of things out that I didn't know. If I hadn't i may have never known! Stay positive. It's all a part of becoming the healthiest you can be.

Yaberhoo 358 Posted December 10, 2015 It's a blessing to find this now. You know what you are dealing with. My dad's insurance changed and he made an appointment with his new doctor. He had been having knee pain for years and his previous doctor couldn't find a reason. It turned out to be radiating pain from his hip and needed a hip replacement. During the pre op physical they found that he had a rare aggressive form of prostate cancer and that he had suffered at least two heart attacks 12 years before that his previous doctor didn't mention (stress test from 1990 showed abnormalities that the technician noted - we got a copy of the test result). Anyway, if we had waited another month, the prostate cancer would have left the capsule of the prostate and metastasized. Prostate cancer doesn't respond well to chemo or radiation once it's metastasized. We were very lucky to find out when we did.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted December 10, 2015 Most of us don't go into surgery with the best of health. It is so important that our surgeon and anesthesiologist know about what is actually going on so they can keep us alive and healthy through our surgery! It is all for the best.
