I won't complain but I lost 11 lbs in 1st week, 22 in 1st 2 wks. I will weigh tomorrow to see what 4 weeks looks like. I don't think it will be down too much because I was out of town and couldn't stick to plan like I'd like to have. Plus some Constipation that's just now getting better since I'm bk home yesterday, eating properly. Will report tomorrow.

what do you consider too much or too fast? In the beginning it's a drastic change for your body so you will have very rappid weight loss. Even if it feels like too much it will slow down after a little while

There's no such thing and especially not when you are morbidly obese like most of us where. You should not be trying to "slow down" because your body will naturally do it. With time your weight loss will naturally slow down and then stop altogether. After it stops if you are not at goal you will have to lose weight by increasing your exercise and activity. So for at least the first year you should be focused on losing as much weight as possible.

I have lost 86lbs in just over 4 months but I am eating well, certainly not undernourished and have 12 lbs to goal. Maybe if we eat well, the body will just stop at its natural weight.

When I was thinking about it today (funny you should do this post!) I pondered about reducing my goal weight. Now I have said that I will probably stall for the next few months lol ;)

i don't want to lose more than10 lbs a month, I don't want to look sick, and besides my goal weight is about 70 lbs total to loose.

I'm sorry but if you want to loose only 10lbs a month why are you considering surgery?

Uh ... ten pounds weight loss a month is not untypical of "lighter weight" WLS patients. Several months pre-op I weighed 235 pounds. On the day of surgery I weighed 216 pounds and lost around 10 pounds a month the first 4 months. Then the monthly weight losses slowed down.

Still, I still hit my target weight of 150 at 8.5 months post-op.

In the next 6 months I lost 12 more pounds.

I'm now maintaining at 138 pounds.

its one thing if that's what naturally happened for you, but I personally just find it odd for someone to want to loose so little weight on purpose

Exactly. We don't have WLS to lose weight fast. We have it so we can lose it and keep it off. I only lost more than 10 pounds for 2 months. I just posted this in another thread. Doesn't make me any less successful!

Well I don't want to look sick and would like less saggy skin. Keep in mind I have to loose a total of 60-70lbs. I don't wanna loose more than that!

that right there is perfect, but my impression is there are many people on here that just want to loose it quickly. I definitely want it to remain off and maintain it.

Odd as it is to you, it isn't odd to me. And it's not odd to the OP.

The difference between my surgery weight and my goal weight was only 66 pounds.

Yes, I lost 19 pounds before surgery. And I lost another 12 pounds after I reached my initial weight goal.

But I'd have been deliriously happy if I'd only lost 70 pounds in total. To say that my life was "unworkable" when I weighed 235 pounds is understating the misery I experienced. I was agoraphobic and could hardly walk.

I now walk as far and as long as I want -- many miles a day. I no longer take Aleve. I'm no longer in pain. My doctor told me to cancel knee replacement surgery. I sleep well. My anxiety / stress levels are so much lower now. I no longer worry that my husband will become my caregiver.

Life is full of joy and potential again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
