I had my band surgery in May 2010. I started at 289 till dropped down to 198 after 2 slips and set backs. The last slip was May 2015 since then I've gained back 30lbs. I am now at 243. I am so off track and discouraged it's crazy. Work, having teenagers and premenopausal (only 38 yrs old but mom had the same issue) symptoms is a extra challenge. I recently joined a larger gym. I've not done hot yoga which I love for a year now. Any encouragement or following is greatly appreciated. Looking at pictures is awful. I am getting back to that ugly fat person I don't love as much and that is bringing me down. Signed failed band Patient

Hi Crystal. I was banded in January of 2013. I'm doing fine but posts like this worry me as I can't help but wonder if this is my future. I have no advice as I haven't experienced what you are going through but my first thought is what does your doctor say? Why have you had multiple slips? Why do you say you are a failed band patient? It sounds to me like you are trying to get back on track and not trying to eat around or cheat the band.

I'm hoping you can get the help and support you need. Please keep us posted on your progress.

I don't think it's about being perfect...I think it's about having the band do its job and help you/us to be successful. I would still look to the medical professionals to help with this so your band can work the way it's supposed to. Sorry if I sound like a numbskull but I would look to my doctor(s) for help and not feel as if I was a failure...because you're not.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
