Got my surgery date!

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm new to this but I am super excited to be taking this journey. Although I am excited I am also worried I will not know how to eat or worried I won't get enough Protein or vitamins!! Hopefully with all this support it will help!!

I have never been skinny and right now I am at my heaviest of 314 lbs 6'0 tall. My goal is to lose around 120 pounds. Not sure if that is realistic or not. But I just want to feel healthy again and start working out and working on myself. I have spent so many years focused on other people in my life that right now is my time to shine!! I'm ready for a change!

Congrats! I know it's a big step. Once I received my surgery date 14/01/16 all my doubts started flooding in.

But I'm sure we'll both turn out absolutely fab!

BTW aim think your 120 pound goal is very realistic, considering the amount of weight people have dropped on these forums.

Best of luck

I completely understand what you are saying! My surgery is Jan 6th and my mind is racing! I am nervous about the procedure, but about everything in the months after. The idea of me at 150 lbs lighter is what I keep dreaming of!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
