Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted December 9, 2015 how long does it take you to eat a meal? today is my first day on puréed food If you are having trouble eating slowly, try using a toddler spoon or appetizer spoon. If you don't have one, use the very tip of a teaspoon. Put your spoon down between each bite and chew. Even if it's purée or soft, try to chew your food. The bonus to learning to eat slowly is that you get to taste your food longer. I was always a fast eater so learning to eat slowly and mindfully is a challenge. BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 9, 2015 Pre-op we were instructed to practice eating slowly, at least 30 mins on each meal. My first egg post op took an hour to eat. Even now I consciously make an effort to eat slowly, at least 15 -20 mins. I think it helps give my body time to send the signal to my brain that I am full.
