Crunchy snack ideas that are high protein low carb? Go!

Recommended Posts

I know some people make baked cheese crisps. I haven't done so but will probably try it someday.

I like Mr. cheese O's. A package is my post-swim snack.< /p>

Once you are cleared for all foods, try some raw vegetables for crunch. If you eat them with Protein (cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, Peanut Butter, etc.), you can get in your Protein.< /p>

I recently got a bag of little sweet peppers and have been eating them with everything.

Kay's Naturals and Quest both have protein chips that are pretty good.

I like roasted chickpeas. You can make them yourself and season them anyway you like. I also love steamed edamame pods. For a filling crunch, I like cucumbers with a splash of Sriracha and lime juice. Not exactly high Protein, but terrific if you like crunchy and spicy. All are naturally good for you.

For baked cheese crisps, grate some cheese and make little patties on a silpat sheet or nonstick cookie sheet. You can season anyway you like. Then bake at 350 until golden brown (about 5-7 mins). Once they cool they are crunchy.

I make microwave cheese crackers. I take one slice of DELUXE American cheese (it must be deluxe) and cut it into 16 tiny squares. I lay them on a sheet of parchment paper (NOT wax paper!) and space them out as much as humanly possible. I microwave for one minute then in 30 second intervals til done (they usually take 1:45 in my microwave but microwaves vary). Sixteen crackers for about 80 calories and zero carbs (or negligible carbs anyway-less than zero). I don't get it but they puff up like a cracker and magically turn from square cheese to circle crackers. It is low carb microwave magic LOL

Sliced and peeled cucumber with lemon is my most favorite crunchy snack.< /p>

Pre-Op I was addicted to peanuts and I have to really control myself now that I can eat solids again. I limit myself to 10 peanuts a day on the days I have them.

Genisoy is a co that makes soy crisps, they come is sea salt and ranch and are kind of like tiny thin rice cakes. I love them and dipped in salsa I they are just like tortilla chips. I'll put a smudge of Peanut Butter and jelly on them when I want something sweet. I highly recommend them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
