cindyw41 761 Posted December 7, 2015 I'm am scheduled for surgery in Jan 4th. My surgeon went over the procedure with me and what will happen after. The day after the procedure I will have a Upper GI to make sure there is no leaks. I can't drink anything until the results come back. I understand the reasoning behind it, it just seems like not many have to have one. Will you have an upper GI after surgery?
kdelrosso 124 Posted December 7, 2015 That's a good question. I feel like my doctor said he would do a scope (upper gi) to check for leaks. That or imaging but I can't imagine imaging would show a leak. It's good that your doctor is being thorough though ❤️
rking 484 Posted December 8, 2015 I had it before surgery to check for several things, including h pyloric bacteria, which I had. To check for leaks, I had an X-ray after drinking a little barium.
