Most of your stomach has been surgically removed. There is a long incision line... liquids should be common sense post surgery. The incision needs to heal. Solid foods and the digestion process are too rough on the incision line.

Healing & to help you lose weight. Think of it like an infant, you start them on liquids: formula, breastmilk, etc..., you then progress to soft foods and then to solids as their new, tiny tummies adjust.

Congrats on your bouncing baby tummy! :D

How long and the method may vary surgeon to surgeon. I was 2 weeks All Liquids. No I did not cheat.

It's so the stomachs can heal and as a result you will lose weight. Stay with your plan. Sure people have cheated. They cheated themselves. Why go through this whole process if your going to cheat and go back to making the same bad decisions that got you here in the first place?

I had liquids for three days, then pureed for ten and then a soft diet. it was ok. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs I got on day 4!

What kind of liquids? I'm on liquids but "full liquids" and my surgeon allows blenderized Soups, Greek yogurt, thinned out cream of wheat, etc

It is tough, but I'm only 5 days post op so I have no real desire to eat I just do it because I have to. I definitely couldn't cheat, I'm too afraid to damage my new stomach. At this point I've been on this diet for nearly 3 weeks so one more wont kill me. I am pretty excited for scrambled eggs and tuna though!

i did 5 days liquid, 5 full liquids, 7 blended, 7 pureed, 7 soft, and then, cautiously, into full foods. avoid hard, raw veggies, nuts(creamy Peanut Butter ok) corn. one of my great joys was actually CHEWING food for the first time in a long time. just go slowly, use baby food spoons, and most importantly, listen to your body. it will tell you what you NEED not what you WANT! that first week post op i really wasn't that interested in ingesting much of anything. sip, sip, and sip some more. keep a shot glass and a glass measuring cup with a pour spout next to you. your Fluid intake is your #1 priority right now. good luck.

You need to follow the program your surgeon and nut mapped out for you. Two weeks of liquids is two full weeks of liquids. It seems like all surgeons have their own program but you need to follow yours to a T. Why cheat? Do you really want to risk rupturing your new stomach? Doing so could cost you your life. This is serious crap here so be serious.

You must do the steps faithfully. You have to retrain your stomach to eat, but you also have to give it time to heal. You are on liquids because the fluids pretty much slide through without the stomach contracting. You will later introduce pureed foods and soft foods so that your stomach will learn how to digest again. It's like learning how to write again after your finger was cut off. It takes time for healing and then practice.

SERIOUSLY?

I didn't want to cheat realizing I had a long line of staples (and glue) holding my stomach together. I need my stomach to heal with no issues. A few weeks is a short time and it's not worth it.

My nut said to feed it like it was your newborn. Would you give your baby solid food before it was ready? "Here sweetie pie have a little scrambled eggs with your formula"

Hell No!!!! Respect your new baby tummy and follow Drs orders.

I was on liquids for 3 weeks and let me tell you...everyone is different. Many of us can barely get down our liquids and even when allowed it was very challenging to get down solids. I've also heard of others who risked rupturing open their new tummies because they tried too much too fast which caused a lot of vomiting which I would consider violence against a new tummy. Please be kind to yours. And remember just because your doctor says that you can try something does not mean that your sleeve is willing to tolerate it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
