It wont be much different than when you were banded. 2-3 days of sleep and pain meds, and every day after that just better and better. I was back at work on day 7.

Personally, I had my surgery on a Thursday, and by Monday I was driving my kids to school and went grocery shopping. It took me lots of trips to my car as I couldn't carry much at a time, but I was not an invalid by any means.

Surgery on Wedbesday, home on Thursday, driving/shopping alone on Friday. Driving kids to school Monday.

No need to stockpile, your taste buds and tolerance may change and that's money wasted.

I bought 2 weeks worth of Protein drinks/shakes. General rule is no driving while under pain meds., then only according to how you are feeling. Consult your surgeon for what he/she recommends.

My doctor told me I could drive as soon as I was off the narcotic pain meds. I had surgery on Tuesday, came home on Wednesday and took my last narcotic on Wednesday evening. I drove on Thursday night, and returned to work the following Monday.

I did switch from the narcotic pain meds to liquid Tylenol on day 2 and I think that helped speed things along.

Where did you get your Liquid Tylenol? I have not been able to find it in my area only the generic.

If I recall, it was the generic CVS version of liquid acetaminophen as opposed to the branded Tylenol.

everyone is different, I was sleeved Monday & by Thursday I was cooking for my family. Saturday & Sunday I went out Christmas shopping for a few hours. You can't drive till your doctor clears you, which is usually your post-op visit about a week later or so.

I was really sore, tired and medicated for a week. I'm three weeks out today and pain free for at least a week.

I was operated on a Monday and I was driving to the grocery store to pick up a few things on Saturday. I had to get out of the house, even for just 30 minutes! My surgeon said as long as I'm not on pain meds.

I was sleeved on Monday out of the hospital on Tuesday and drove myself to the store on Friday, (could have managed on Wed if necessary). As long as you're not on narcotic pain meds, you may be ready in a few days, but it's hard to tell... Some folks take longer.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
