What to have at home?

Recommended Posts

One thing that I never thought of but my NUT recommended and I use everyday is a mug warmer. I bought a little coffee mate one for $10 and it keeps my food/ broth warm while I eat it since it takes forever to get everything down.

that is an awesome idea, I wish I had done that, instead I just keep warming mine in the microwave

I wish I would have bought different tasting things instead of a bunch of the same. My taste changed a lot the first two weeks and it was hard to eat everything I tried pre-pp. For example, I only liked orange Popsicles and that was my least favorite before, the same with Jello.

I kind of did what you did. I am not a big Jello fan so I skipped most of the jello. I have orange and cherry and something else. One thing that my friend did for me was to buy me a bunch of packages of Ramen Noodles. Make the flavor packet with some Water and throw the noodles out since you can't have them. There is a multitude of flavors that way and that stuff is cheap.

Wow! Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond. Nothing like first hand knowledge from people who've been there. Lots of great ideas -- should keep me busy while I'm waiting!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
