TENGAL 0 Posted July 22, 2007 :help: I am 4 days post-op and still on Clear liquids (for 3 more days). Every morning I awaken with terrible nausea and with a horrible taste in my mouth. The bad taste I can deal with, but the nausea is too much! Does anyone have a clue as to why this nausea is occurring? Will it ever go away? I have suppositories for nausea, prescribed for me before the surgery, but I haven't used them yet. I also hate to start out the morning on suppositories. Should I go ahead? Thanks, TenGal
Jobstud 0 Posted July 22, 2007 I had surgery on 7/11. For about a week I had that nauseous feeling in the morning and also at various times during the day. I attributed it to HUNGER PAINS since I was also just on Clear Liquids. I am sure it also had to do with some residual stomach irritation/swelling due to the trauma of surgery. Every day it seemed to get a little better. I found sitting up and trying to burp seemed to help a little. Also after a BM, that helped ease the feeling. When I was finally allowed to have stuff like lowfat whipped cottage cheese, applesauce, thinned oatmeal, that pretty much went away.
TerriDoodle 6 Posted July 23, 2007 Ten Gal - Well, would you rather start your day with suppositories or nausea?? LOL I imagine that the nausea is caused by the swelling so there's not much you can do about it, really. Try some ginger tea 1st thing...that might help, too.
