How much should i be able to drink?

Recommended Posts

1-2 oz every hour on stage one. I wouldn't push it. You don't want to be in pain.

Thats about what i have been having. Is it bad that I do two ozs at once and then nothing for another hr. So far so good and no pain doing it that way.

Water drains through pretty fast, even with pre-op swelling. IMO, 1 ounce per hour is not enough.... What did your surgeon advise?

On day3 post-op my instructions say to increase up to 4 oz per hour based on my toleration. After a week or so we should be able to drink 6-8 cups a day :)

Also make sure you sip the Water. They told me to use small cups or medicine cups during this phase so I don't drink fast.

I am so new to this, my surgery date is December 30th. Are you talking about Water? Are the Protein Shakes? I'm having trouble getting into the

personal part to update my profile. Good luck on your adventure, I can't wait to get mine done.

2 days post op I will still be on clear liquids. 3-4 days post op I will be on full liquids (Protein drinks, yogurt, Jello exc). During the full liquid stage all of it contributes to the daily intake.

I am 4 days post op (12/2) and having a really hard time with gas bubbles. My surgeon says I should be getting in about 2 oz. of Protein Drink every 1-2 hours right now. Also have to have 60 oz of water/ day - I'm drinking constantly but the gas bubbles fill my stomach up and I can't physically get anything down. I'm SO thirsty I just want to gulp down ice water! My head hurts and I feel weak today. I'm trying to force myself to drink more so I don't get dehydrated ????

I'm 3 days out from surgery (12/3) and I have been feeling wonderful until this morning, no problem getting fluids in, no nausea . Today lightheaded, weak and gas bubbles!! I'm wondering if all this gas is making me lightheaded? Has anyone else heard of this

Hi

Have you heard of Isopure? It is a flavored clear liquid that has a lot of Protein in it. I have read many sleepers use it to get their protein in. I'm getting my sleeve Tuesday & am getting super scared.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
