Help Me!!!!!! Im Freaking Out!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hip,

I think a huge amount of inner turmoil is to be expected when you make a decision to change your way of eating forever. All big life-changing decisions make our heads spin for awhile -- as they should. It shows that we still love ourselves enough to protect ourselves from harm (and failure). What is your gut,,,,,er, sorry haha........Instincts saying? If you're like me you have the "angel" on one shoulder saying "yes yes, you'll succeed, you'll get the help you need, you deserve this, you're not alone, you're strong!" and then there's the DEVIL on the other shoulder snickering "yah right loser! Another diet scheme huh? That's right, throw some more money down the drain! I love to see your hopes get smashed!"

So the real question is: who will you listen to? Which voice is your fear talking? Which one is your higher self that loves and nurtures you? Which voice will you allow to have control over your life? Will you keep posting and seeking out the support you need, and offering support to others in need? Or will you go back to your pizza and Burger King and super sized Coke and isolate yourself? You need us Hip, and we need you. Don't let fear keep you from living the life God intended for you.

((hugs))

Holly

PS what is your surgery date?

Thank you Jack, Holly, Hip and everyone else who has sprinkled their words of wisdom on this thread......I can relate to EVERY word that have been posted. I have decided which voice is the voice of fear for me( I have never liked that demon....why is it so stinkin loud?) I have been wrestling with self doubt...even so much as yesterday as I left my appt's with my surgercal nurse and dietician. I had to ask myself.......can I do this? ugh!

Hi reconciler- congrats on quitting smoking I imagine that it couldn't have been easy! I thought that it was interesting how you said you felt freedom from not having to worry about it anymore. I imagine it would feel the same with food after a while also a sense of relief that food no longer controls our lives.

With the help of the band we are the ones in control!!!

Val

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
