Hi Everyone!

I am getting my band next week! It's came around so quickly! Had my pre-op yesterday and all went well!

I suppose I am really excited but not nervous yet. It's freaking me out more that I am not nervous.

I have only told my close friends and family about the band but I told my work I am getting my gallbladder out! I hate lying but the people at my work are so judgemental.

I weighed in at 258lbs. (can't do KG weight haha)

I can hear people now saying "you took the easy way out" but I am finding nothing about this easy!

I think continuing to eat the way I am and ignoring the fact that I am obese would be easy.

Have any of you been asked if you have had WLS and what have you said?

Jem x

Hi Jem I had a band fitted in 2006 over 9 years ago and although times are hard I wouldn't swop it for anything. I lost over 5 stone & have my life back. If I can help in anyway don't hesitate to contact me. X

Congratulations -- so happy for you. I love, love, love my band. Definitely not the easy way out (whatever that is) but, boy is my life easier having the appetite monster off of my back. The links below in my signature helped me understand more about the band; maybe they will help you, too. And we are here to share our experiences -- keep us posted!

I am two years out and feel the joy of making good food decisions without a lot of angst. I just eat good healthy food in much smaller portions and at appropriate intervals. Sure helps not being hungry! Good luck with all.

Just to let you all know that's me banded now and home.

Gas pains are the worst! Managing a good amount of Water (1.5l a day) at the moment and a cup of Soup and half a shake. Think when the gas pains subside it will get better.

Thanks for all your support guys! Xxxx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
