Eating out

I usually order a side item or a bowl of Soup. love to see the waitress go cross eyed..

I have had a WLS Card for 10+ years and only used it once at a Reno "all you shouldn't eat" place. I think it was $35. And I was post op and having tea and they let me join my husband... which was much more pleasant than sitting outside...

Although to people watch: vegas, Reno , are great slices of America.

I have ordered off the kids menu without any problems. Never thought about the senior menu, maybe I will try that. Healthier choices on the senior menu, I would think.
I also just order off the main menu and expect leftovers. I can sometimes get another meal or two from my leftovers.

The senior meal isn't much cheaper, maybe 1 dollar. And these restaurants give no
Discounts with BariatricPal card, they don't care

for a long time i tried to find or get a card and i simply gave up. when i go out to eat, i make sure i order something i could get multiple meals out of, and take the leftovers home. most places will make things the way you want them for the most part. just ask, asking never hurts

I know it's been months since you posted this, but I had my band 9/14/17. The doctor said when I go for my first fill in 3ish more weeks that they will give me a card to present to be able to order off the kids menu. Not sure there's really anything we could eat off the kids menu though! Usually it's Mac and cheese, chicken fingers, and all that bad stuff.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
