I had to pause my sleeve surgery to have a total hysterectomy for uterine cancer. I actually lost about 10 pounds after bc I was just not hungry. Plateaued for a little, then started heading slowly down again (I'm still pre sleeve).

Best of luck to you. Have you checked out hystersisters? Great forum!

Thank you Daisy Amy, I shall check it out. If you don't mind me asking did you have any complications after the hysterectomy? How soon after the surgery were you able to exercise?

I actually ended up with some nerve damage in my legs after. I was on the table for about 5 hours (much longer than normal) and the way they sort of hang you upside down for the robotic assisted surgery stretched my nerves. So, I was in PT for a while after. Most people can get to walking pretty quickly after, but you are restricted to only lifting a milk jug for about 6 weeks or so.

I developed a fever between week 1 and 2 and felt pretty bad. Some antibiotics and I was fine after.

Other than that, it's pretty typical recovery. Very wiped out. I'd say I started to feel like myself at about three weeks out.

Now, I am just thrilled to be considered "no further treatment" and am not missing my monthly visitor one bit!! The hot flashes kind of suck, though. ????

I really do encourage you to check out that other forum. It was a godsend for me (same name there).

Congratulations Daisy Amy on the all clear. Sounds like you have been through the mill in the first couple of weeks, but I am glad the rest of your recovery has been smooth.

I had a look at the hyster sisters website. I found it quite informative and I shall register. Thanks once again.

A little, but mine was out of the norm, and really, I didn't care what the recovery was like as long as they got it all!!! I'm sure you'll have a much easier go of it. Glad you're going to join! I still check in from time to time there. Xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
