Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

Im new here!!!

Im extremely nervous (As I'm sure everyone usually is), Im in desperate need for some support and some surgery buddies as my surgery is a bit of a secret (to my friends and all my family except for my mum).

My surgery date is the 18th of December 2015 in England

Is anyone else getting sleeved around the same day?

Has anyone used Professor Ammori in Manchester?

Hi Ineedchangeasap,

Well done on booking your surgery date!

It is natural to be nervous and I don't want to make it any worse for you but I thought you should be careful given this article. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mums-year-long-agony-after-6340651

Mr Ammori left a tube in someone, I would just make sure your aftercare isn't negligent at all to make sure he doesn't make the same mistake twice.

Hey Slevels1,

Thank you so much!

Yes I actually ask him about it, and I understand that these things can happen to anyone/ any Dr (hopefully not me! Hehehe).

How has your process been?

Hi there - my surgery is actually on the 9th of December - so just a few days before yours. I live in the US - but happy to find someone having the same surgery as me. For me they just moved my surgery UP - it was scheduled on the 15th but they called and asked if I could do it on the 9th. I am nervous. I am really nervous about pain in the hospital after the surgery. All my doctor mentioned was tylenol and motriin and I need real pain killers I am a big baby with pain. I also get anxious when I am in pain.

What are you doing to pass the time between now and your surgery? Did you stick to the pre-op diet so far. I haven't been that great on my preop diet...

Im December 18th as well... Yes I'm nervous but that's to be expected and I just literally started my pre op diet and I don't mind the shakes so far. Hopefully everyone will have the best of experiences here like so many have????. Wishing all the best.

Yes Amit's a good combination of excitement with a tad of fear... No so much of the fear of the surgery but more fear of the future and how hard this is going to be for sure.

I thought I was the only one who was scared that the surgery might not work, or that I might not lose as much weight as I wanted to. Right now I am doing the three shakes a day pre op diet I'm losing my mind its so hard

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
