One year Bandiversary and Pregnant!!!!

Recommended Posts

What a year it has been! I am so glad I went on this journey and I love my band.

I had the band put on July 21, 06 and was told by the doctor I had a large cyst on my ovary. After coming home and finally going in for cyst surgery, It had grown to the size of a watermellon and went up to my ribs, it was 8 lbs of fluid! I had to have major surgery to get it out. I was laid up a bit and lost my right ovary. Due to only having one ovary and PCOS, I really thought I would need medication later to get pregnant. Here I am July of 07, 53 lbs down and only 3 lbs away from onederland and bang, PREGNANT! I am 35, have never been pregnant before, and suffering nausea. I am at a quandry about weather to have a unfill, I was at perfect restriction! I would love to hear from any other pregnant banders to share their past or current experiences. I will be 2 months at the end of this month. I am so glad I lost the weight I did before I got prego! Please any advice and information from pregnant bandsters is appreciated!

I love all you guys for your support!

That is AWESOME!!!! I'm so happy for you! I'm 34 and hoping to be in your boat in the next year or so.

I've read most of the pregnancy threads on here. Wanting to get pregnant was one of the final deciding factors of me getting the band. From what I've read, most people have a complete unfill if they think they are going to vomit during the sickness. When I was pregnant with my son I became very nausious (sp?) but I didn't actually throw up. I think in that case they might give me a slight but not complete unfill.

Please keep us informed! LIke I said, I read all the pregnancy threads in hope!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
