TripleK 22 Posted December 3, 2015 I need to vent. I started this process back in August knowing that my insurance (Cigna) required 89 days of supervised weight management. I went into the Drs office I choose, sat down with them & scheduled all my appointments in September with the scheduler. She set me up with 3 nutritionist appointments 9/8, 10/9, 11/13. I asked her if that was really enough & she assured me it was. STUPID of me not to count the days & have her add another appointment. Now my file has been submitted & I have been denied based on only doing 72 days of weight management. I will have to go back in next week, weight in at 2:30 pm instead of first thing in the morning like all my other appointments & my doctor has to schedule a peer to peer appeal. If I am over my starting weight she won't even bother with the appeal. I needed to get this done this year because I had already met my out of pocket max due to an injury. This process can take up to 3 weeks making getting done by the 31st almost impossible. I am so pissed off & frustrated.

Chelle Bean 51 Posted December 4, 2015 So sorry ! I know it is a nightmare and your at the mercy of depending upon someone else to make sure it is all done right! Hope you get it by the end of the year!
rking 484 Posted December 4, 2015 When you go to weigh, wear the very lightest clothes possible, shorts, tshirt, no jewelry, socks, maybe. You can always bring clothes to put on. You might consider a liquid diet for however many days before the weigh in.
TripleK 22 Posted December 4, 2015 rking - I have been doing the liquid diet since Wednesday & I plan to request a gown for weighing in The surgeon had originally told me she would do everything possible to get my surgery done this year so I plan to remind them when I go in, being friendly of course. Tobeornottobe 89 Posted December 4, 2015 That sucks. Cigna require 90 days. The way Cigna describes it is actually greater than 89. Hopefully all goes well and you'll be approved.
