James Marusek 5,244 Posted December 3, 2015 A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, found that obese patients who lose at least 10 percent of their body weight can slow down the progression of cartilage damage and potentially avoid knee replacement surgery. http://acsh.org/2015/12/mris-reveal-weight-loss-protects-knees/
Cervidae 2,389 Posted December 4, 2015 Very interesting, though not entirely surprising. I have an old knee injury that I recently found out is going to have to be fixed with a big surgery, and soon, but I've noticed a definite decrease in aches/pains in my knee joints since losing 120 pounds. And I'm still over 300! I can only dream about how much better I'll feel when I hit goal weight. Thanks for sharing.
