WannabeH 114 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) I was told the same as jj7481. My nut said its the dehydration issue. Also she said coffee can spur on old habits meaning if you are like me, if I have a coffee I normally will want to eat something with it (coffee and chocolate is my ultimate food combo). My nut said I should stop at 2 cups of normal coffee a day. Edited December 29, 2015 by WannabeH
samcl1 52 Posted December 29, 2015 There is such a variety of opinions on practically everything, depending on your surgeon. I have a friend that left the hospital on pureed foods, my surgeon "two weeks liquid before pureed". As with anything, I'd say try it and see, everything slowly and in moderation is what I'm trying for.
rking 484 Posted December 29, 2015 My doc, who is very conservative, said I could have coffee all along, as long as I'm getting my Water intake and no Creamer and sugar.

bellabloom 2,467 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I stopped for a long time. coffee drinks were one of the main ways I ate my calories and sugar pre surgery. Huge white chocolate mochas daily. It was great to kick that habit. I now drink about 1/2 cup of coffee with cream and Splenda in the morning and the occasional iced Americano with Splenda. I'll never go back to my old ways. I'm over 1 year out. Looks like I have to stop now if I have gerd. Edited January 27, 2016 by bellabloom

SHOTzY* 114 Posted January 28, 2016 I was told I could only have decaf..no caffeine ever againYes, that's what I was told at the very first interview I had with my WLS clinic. They go over the no caffeine/tobacco/no alcohol issue at every appt and each nut-class. I've had several people tell me they drink coffee anyway, some use half caf.
