I gave up the caffeine about 1 1/2 months ago. It was awful at first. Thank goodness that part is done at least. The sugar is my next struggle.

2 to 4 shakes

You can have cottage cheese or non sugared Greek yogurt or high Protein cream of wheat...must be watery. For dinner I have Soup ( no lumps,no sugar)or steamed spinach in broth with a small piece of steamed fish in miso broth. The first 3 days I could literally die...I am approaching the 5 th day and ok...no headaches but body aches and sleepiness ...drinking as much Water as I can.

I couldn't do this pre op diet if I hadn't given up caffeine beforehand...the Migraine would have been crazy and the ex derive would follow...and that's not good.

I started getting all the medical things I needed in March. Had an issue with insurance but that is now taken care of. I've has so longs to prepare. First I quite coffee, then soda. Soda was the hardest for me! I could no lie drink a two litter A day!!! I know how crazy that sounds now but I did. I'm vary proud that I've quit soda! :) but in all that time I feel I could have done more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
