Wonderkind 23 Posted December 3, 2015 Anatomy question first... If the air is pumped into the abdominal cavity how does it move into the intestines to be passed out of the body? And I'm scared of it so does anyone have great tips for relief?
cindyw41 761 Posted December 3, 2015 I haven't had my wls but I've had gall bladder surgery. My gas pain was in my upper chest. The remedy is to walk walk walk.
Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted December 3, 2015 I think that it's a myth that it passes through your intestines. Any gas would dissolve into your bloodstream and then be exhaled through your lungs. Don't stress the gas. I was so paranoid about it but didn't have any gas pains at all. Most doctors today try to remove as much gas as possible when the surgery is done. Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 3, 2015 That was one of the things I asked my surgeon pre-op. He said he extracts as much of the CO2 as possible. Consequently, I had NO gas pain at all.
Champ715 207 Posted December 3, 2015 I was pretty freaked out about gas pain after everything I read. I didn't have any gas pain in the hospital or at home.
Susan66 128 Posted December 3, 2015 ⬆️This is what I love to hear. I'm hoping I don't have too much or even better no gas pain. Had a hysterectomy 5 years ago and had none at all.
