Hi y'all!

I am 5 weeks post op and been doing ok so far. I've had no complications and have lost about 25 lbs so far.

Today i became very frustrated and felt heart broken. So... I was scheduled for essentially my first month post op appointment this week on the fourth. It's been tough on me the days i have to drive to My Dr's office because its 2hrs away, in the past i have had to always rush back to pick up my daughter from school because the Dr is only available after 10am. On top of that i am currently going through a custody battle in court in the city and will have to drive down on the 16th for that. I am also driving down the 20th to sign our new lease. (I'm moving back to the city) I been stressing a lot and been having a lot of anxiety. I thought it would be a good idea if I rescheduled my appointment until i move down there. The earliest available they had was the 30th. I asked the nurse if she could please ask my Dr if there were any new Vitamins i needed to take or change any of my diet mean time before my next appointment. Later she calls me back and says that the Dr. can't give me any information, i would have to come into the office. I may be to fucking sensitive but that really hurt my heart. This surgery has been tough on me, i am trying my best to motivate myself to keep loosing weight, and my Dr can't just make some recommendations for me till i see him. I feel like he really doesn't care about me. It makes me want to change Dr. What are your thoughts?

Nina, it's clear that you're dealing with some stressful situations now and they may be clouding your view things. Because you haven't been back to see the surgeon, it's important to keep the appointment for this Friday. I think he's being responsible by not wanting to prescribe anything without seeing you. It's more than a matter of Vitamins.

If the appointment time conflicts with the time your daughter gets out of school, can you arrange with another mother to take her until you can get back? The kids can play for a while and have a good time. Or do you have a neighbor who can help out for an hour or two?

Driving two hours each way for an appointment isn't my idea of fun, either. Would it seem less a turn-off if you consider that there are people who make the commute every day for work?

Please try not to focus so much on the travel time. It's a necessary evil and stressing over it will just make the really important things more difficult to deal with.

I send you best wishes. That's a beautiful, little face up there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
