So proud of myself!

Recommended Posts

I flew to Dallas for my first post op appointment. I am 15 days out. I am doing fantastic. Could not be any better. At home it is easy to eat right because I have everything there that I need. This morning at the hotel for Breakfast, it was a "free" one with eggs, bacon, Cereal, Bagels, cream cheese, you know the ones. I have always pigged out at those. This morning I had a yogurt, juice, and milk. They may seem like a small thing but I actually made a good choice! I CAN do it!!!!!!

"proud of myself"

you should be!!!

i think you are aces

any accomplishment you make is not a "small thing"

cereal, Bagels and cream cheese, yum, yum, yum good

not yet!!! you stayed away from them, putting your nose

up - staying away from these yummies!!

you controlled yourself having chosen yogurt, milk and juice

(be careful about juice ie OJ) grapefruit etc

hidden sugars

you stayed away from your "old" friend

maybe your first NSV!!!???

at a llllllater time you will be able to eat a bite or two of anything

moderation/portions are key for the rest of your life!!!

you said above "I can do it!!

of course you can silly head LOL

i never doubted you for a minute!!!!

keep up the good work newbie

Congratulations.

As someone whose job requires frequent travel (40+ weeks a year for last 15 years) I know how hard this is. If you ever have to travel again check out Marriott's Residence Inns. They are like studio apartments with full kitchens. And here's the best part, most of them have a grocery delivery service to your room. I have occasionally called them the morning of my arrival and they were nice enough to grab a few items to get me through the first night and breakfast the next morning.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
