Protein shakes during Clear Liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I just joined the forum and have been reading a lot of comments that have helped with all my questions.. I have one of my own and if anyone is able to help I would appreciate it!

So I'm one week post op and working on liquid intake and Clear liquids, I'm confused on Protein liquids. Am I able to have Protein shakes like Premier Protein that I can dilute with Water for more liquidity substance or do I have to stick to clear Liquid Protein like Isopure which I can barely keep down due to taste.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

You should consult with your surgeon or nutritionist, as every plan is different. I was allowed Protein Shakes and drinkable yogurt on day 3 post-op, as I recall, but all my other liquids still had to be clear until I was allowed strained cream Soups around day 7.

Check with your nut, I was only allowed cleared liquids. I added this one to all my drinks it's unflavored it worked really good. http://www.fortifynutritionals.com/mobile/Product.aspx?id=37536#PhotoSwipe1449152582346

Thank you all for the feedback, I'm definitely checking in with my Dr. I'm almost done with phase 1 so I'll soon be into high Protein but all suggestions I will use thank you all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
