aclark27 4 Posted December 2, 2015 Hello fellow sleevers! I'm just curious how fast everyone else saw weight loss. I feel like I am losing so much so fast (not complaining!), but is there such a thing as too much too fast? I was sleeved on 9/4/15 & start weight was 270. As of this morning, I'm sitting at 202 & it's only been roughly 12 weeks. I do make sure I'm hitting my Protein goals EVERY DAY & I feel good, but it's just a whole new world of worry with weight loss lol. I'd love to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience. Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted December 2, 2015 I lost 136 pounds in less than 6 months. However, please realize that this sudden weight loss phase will come to an end. You will hit stalls that can last for months and then you will simply stop losing weight altogether. At that point if you are not at goal you will have to increase your physical activity and exercise in order to lose weight again.
aclark27 4 Posted December 2, 2015 Oh yes, I've already had experiences with stalls. 3-6 weeks post op I didn't lose an ounce. I didn't gain any either, but it was very frustrating. I have a few very good friends who have had rny so their experiences are slightly different, but they're still really good to talk to. One if them is 6 years out and has maintained 130 pounds off. My surgeon's expectations are pretty realistic, she would like for me to lose another 40 pounds. I feel pretty confident I'll be able to do that, I just wondered if any one had health consequences for losing so fast.
rnsamantha 352 Posted December 2, 2015 I've lost 98 lbs in 5.5 months. While I'm thrilled, I do think that there is probably a benefit to losing a little more slowly. I definitely have loose skin, and still struggle with fatigue. I do workout 5 days/week but my trainer is concerned that I may be losing some lean muscle as well due to the rapid weight loss. Don't get me wrong though, I am still thrilled that I had the surgery as I would not have been able to accomplish this on my own!
JupiterinVirgo 846 Posted December 2, 2015 Your speed and results are amazing. All of you. What did you do? I'm only 10 days out but I truly want to maximize the next six months.
WL WARRIOR 692 Posted December 4, 2015 I lost 15O lbs in 7.5 months after my surgery. My period stopped at 4 months post op during the end of January this year. It never returned. My recent blood work shows that my hormones are still quite screwed up even though my weight has stablized these past few months. I am 38 and will now never get pregnant again, which i was hoping could be possible with weight loss.
livvsmum 2,369 Posted December 4, 2015 I hit my goal of losing 140 pounds by 10 months post op. I think if you are meticulous about every single thing you put in your mouth it does fall off very quickly. That's a good thing! Congrats!
jess9395 5,449 Posted December 7, 2015 Wow! I thought I lost fast but looking at you guys I feel slow! I lost 136lbs in almost a year exactly.
DavidOso 272 Posted December 7, 2015 i was on the pre op liquid diet 4 weeks because of high bmi. since early june till today i've lost 148...2 pounds till 150! about 25-30 pounds per month. not tired, weak, or hungry. thank god i saved all my "less fat than i am now" clothes. i have several wardrobes in descending sizes, and as i shrink through them, the thrift stores are going to be getting a lot of clothes. Make sure your are eating mostly Protein. Limit the carbs drastically. Exercise. That's about all you have to do.
maggie409 765 Posted December 7, 2015 You have lost nearly what it has taken me 6 months to lose. I have lost 75 pounds. Everyone is different. I am happy with the weight I have lost and not overly concerned about it taking longer than expected. I still need to lose another 50 pounds. If you are concerned about your loss being too quick, raise the question with your doctor. Congratulations!
♥dreamable 189 Posted December 7, 2015 I was down 49lbs at my 6 week post op. Surgeon said I was having better than norm weight loss. So whatever that means... lol when I see before and after pics of others I feel like I am losing like a snail. I still don't see a difference in my appearance, although I already feel like a new person
