alishams86 12 Posted December 2, 2015 I'm about six days away from my surgery. Scheduled 12/7. I've been on the preop liquid diet for over a week now and I am hating it. My stomach is no longer hungry but my head is like we need steak! I've tried adding more Protein, having more of the allowed foods and drinking Water. I hate Soups and honestly the thought of eating a Soup right now makes me even more nauseous. How do I get past this part? I know it's worth it and I know it is working but it's sooooo hard! Does anyone have any suggestions for other foods for this preop phase? I'm so close and don't want to fail now, but I am slightly bored and nauseated from the few choices I have right now! glitter eyes 1,398 Posted December 2, 2015 Does your plan allow for sugar free Popsicles or sugar free Jello? I found that if I snacked on the sugar free Popsicles it wasn't as bad. Hang in there- you can do it. It will be so worth the sacrifice you are making now. Good luck to you!!
alishams86 12 Posted December 2, 2015 Yes! I can have popsicles and I am having one now. Actually starting to feel a bit better. No idea why I forgot about them! Just so much in my head! Thank you!
curvybritt 53 Posted December 2, 2015 That's the hardest part to get past, head hunger - and being honest it's one of the hardest things you will have to try to combat after the surgery too. But i think it's good that you have a pre-op diet though, as I didn't and I had to deal with it after the surgery. After a while you get used to not eating the food, and it's easier to focus on the foods you CAN eat.

Sean Morrison 10 Posted December 3, 2015 It is definitely difficult and I had my own struggles but it is worth it. My organs were shrunk for the surgery like the diet is supposed to do and I had no complications which I am forever thankful for. Stay strong!!
