Concerning drinks/meals for the first 30 days

Recommended Posts

I have found several websites for the VSG diet and meal plans for the first month. Does anyone recommend a good site to purchase the 30 (or more) days meal kit. I'm not overly worried of costs I just want the "convenience" of having no guesswork and to just follow a plan on paper so to speak. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you again.

I would only follow the plan your surgeon or NUT gives you. And I wouldn't buy lots ahead of time because your tastes and tolerance may change.

Good point I am having this done in Mexico and they actually sale the day 1-14 and 1-30 days meal kits themselves and I found many online and virtually all were the same. I was looking to try and find what most people prefer though.

I hadn't heard of the kits until you mentioned them. I'm preop and have been sampling and I do like the Premier Protein and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury the best so far. Now I'm just going to wait for my date to buy more. I'm going to Mexico too.

Sounds good I haven't tried Rhodes I'll order a few and try to. I ordered a few from Bariatric Fusion and it tasted like I was eating chalk. I'm having mine done on the 18... Fun fun fun and now the nerves are kicking in.

I had my sleeve surgery 3 weeks ago today (Nov 10). I made the mistake of buying several cases of Isopure liquid in advance -- thinking that I'd everything on hand. I liked the Isopure liquid but it became tiresome after a few days -- even with 4 different flavors. So I've since purchased Isopure powder and similar Protein drinks from unjury and BariatricPal. For me, variety is the key to compliance. I now buy from different vendors. It has worked for me so far.

You can work this out for free with your nutritionist. In my handbook it list not only recommended shakes, powders, etc.. but it included sample meals plans for each eating stage. Your NUT can help you develop something similar. Call them.

I tried several powders, drink etc.. pre-op but only bought 2 weeks worth for post-op life. I wanted to make sure I liked and could tolerate whatever I purchased. I also did a variety of things including buying kefir from the market.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
