My First Vacation Since Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I'm on vacation for a week in foreign land. I have been able to maintain my Protein and daily Fluid intake. But not having a scale to jump on every morning is making me nervous. I have two Protein shakes daily, one as soon as I wake up and one in the late afternoon. It's freezing up here so I'm drinking a lot of herbal tea without any sweetner and my hosts are pretty healthy folks who make me a veggie and apple juice every morning.

As far as my diet goes I'm following everything I am supposed to a T.

I hope when I return home to my scale, I will not be disappointed when I step on it.

@@dusky goddess - you (we) all need to learn how to be flexible, sounds like you have it under control. This journey will have bumps in the road that we have to work around...like a vacation in a foreign land.

Wow, what a fabulous opportunity. Who cares what the scale says every day? Weighing every day gives you no valuable or actionable information in my opinion. You are just capturing the small, normal fluctuations in Fluid retention anyway. I normally don't weigh more than once a week (or less often). Plus, changes in elevation, location, different scales, are going to give you different readings anyway.

It sounds like you are following your plan, so relax and enjoy your vacation! The scale will be there when you get home.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
