I cant eat strawberries and kiwi my favorite fruits. The acid just upsets my stomach so much! Same thing with oranges, but I wasn't a huge orange eater before. I even tried strawberries in shakes and they still hurt. I also miss tomatoes. I cant eat those either. But I can eat everything else...including oysters which I LOVE!

I am 7 months out and can pretty much eat anything without being hurt. I choose not to eat Pasta or bread. If I order a sandwich, I remove the bread. I can still eat so little and the bread has no nutrition. I do eat carbs. I have oatmeal for Breakfast and Greek yogurt for Snacks. I eat cheese and I even had dressing on Thanksgiving. The only thing I really "miss" is soda. The desire for them is getting better but a part of me misses them. It's not so much that I can't have something, it is that I am choosing something better for me instead.

the only time I miss soda is when I am sick. Pepsi was my comfort food. I just like the fizz in my mouth! haha!

Like @@BLERDgirl, I have a tummy of steel. I can eat anything.

Now drink? No beer for me :( It makes me feel like Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka. It makes my stomach feel so full and bloated!

I can't eat ice cream. More than 3-4 bites and I hurl -- from both ends.

I also can't eat rice or Pasta. More than 3-4 bites and I hurl -- from the face only.

I used to love all three of these foods and I never imagined giving them up. I had the sleeve because I understood that one could usually eat anything post op. I wanted to live as normally as possible.

Now I don't even want any of these foods. As delicious as I remember them, they all make me feel so bad, I no longer crave them at all.

Carbonated beverages--ouch

Rice

Heavy bread like croissants and Bagels and rolls and thick pizza crust

The rest I can eat when I choose to!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
