At 2 1/2 years out, I drink soda but at two weeks out??? :faint:

I couldn't even get in half my Protein and Fluid requirements much less have room for soda and ritz crackers that early out. Hell! It took my almost 6 months to get to the point where I was CLOSE to my nutritional requirements.

It's amazing how different each surgeon's plan is for recovery, healing and maximum weight loss. My doctor would have ponked me in my head if I even suggested such things on such a fresh incision.

Never was a big fan of soda but I used to love sparkling Water. I have not had any since pre surgery diet and I don't miss it either.

Both my doctor and nutritionist are in the no camp. They say it expands your stomach sleeve making it easier for you to eat more and therefore rregain weight. I gave up TAB over a year ago, had a break and drank a 12 pack in March and then for my birthday in June. That was all pre-op so my plan is to stay off diet soda.

I started with Diet Coke at about two months out, and I've never had a problem. However, I really can't finish a whole can before it loses the fizz. And those giant movie theater drinks (44-64 fl oz)...forget about it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
