What will I be when I grow up?

Loving this thread and the connections here. Great book list and suggestions Inner Surfer Girl! Love the Vision Board; I have used that when working on writing projects or developing a charater. I tear out pictures randomly and put them together without really thinking about it, then analyze after. I will see if I can find the analysis tool in my files somewhere. And Post-It Notes can be a great tool, too. Last weekend I took an Intuition Workshop. That may be a direction to pursue as well.

Another book/workbook I recommend is The Artist's Way. It's not exactly a career book, but it can help you tap into your creativity.

You can also check out the author's (Julia Cameron) website for some activities and inspiration.

Go to www.meetup.com and find your people!!!! What ever you are interested in....music, art, language, yoga, dancing, mediation, games, cooking, hiking, biking, you name it....what ever it is....you can find it in your area most likely. All it is is a site for a group of people with similar interests get together casually; at someone's house, a local pub, a park, a hall and talk about your mutual interests. I met so many people when I moved to Amsterdam through this resource....there is no reason to be bored....so much to do and so many opportunities to live a life you never even dreamed about! I'm living proof. Good luck to you, can't wait to see where you are emotionally, mentally, and physically in another year.

It is one of the reason I've had the surgery, to be able to achieve my goals. At 49, I finally found my passion, scuba diving. I have done the 1st certification and then was benched because of the weight/joint problems (knees). As soon as the surgeon gives me the go ahead, I'll be taking courses, I've already spoken to my instructor and hopefully by November I'll be a certified professional diver, then I can consider changing careers, even though there are some days I feel I might be too old, but then I think that older people might be happy to have a dive master their ages.... who knows. All I know it that I have to at least try!

So I think that whatever you discover that makes you happy go for it... I have to believe it's never too late!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
