Confused hunger and gas?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has confused hunger and m gases still moving around in your sleeve? It was sleeved the 24th of this month and haven't weighed myself yet but looking at myself it looks like I've lost at least 5-8 pounds.

I can't tell if I'm hungry sometimes or if it's just has moving around. All painful to me. Not drop down on the floor pain but cringe because you know the pain is about to come pain. Sometimes I burp and I'm relieved other times not. Still on liquids. Tried to have a Protein shake and put it in the medicine cap that the doctors and nurses gave me ..but barley took a sip of that before i realized it was too thick. For the past few days I've had 3 Popsicles a day half a cup of Jello and tons of Water. The pain meds that were prescribed to me and have taken one stool softener and an antacid. But I felt it was stuck and it caused A LOT of discomfort. Maybe someone can help me out?

Thank you in advanced

I got sleeved Nov 25 so this is post op day 3 for me. I'm on Clear Liquids until Monday. I have true hunger. Rolling tummy hunger but can only tolerate a few sips at a time. I'm finding broth and beef consommé are much better tolerated than Popsicles and Powerade zero and make the hunger go away. Apple juice and white grape juice are going ok too.

@@sharleen santana - Just take a small sip and drink it slow. If the Protein feels too thick, dilute it with Water. It will take you twice as long but at least you are getting in nutrients. The stool softner and antacid are also important to combat Constipation and acid. If you can't swallow the pills, crush them and take it that way. It will taste horrible but you will get it down. Movement will also help with the gas. Walking swinging your arms in pinwheel motions, or raising them up and down like you are lifting dumb bells are good ways to get the gas moving and out.

I found that hunger feels a lot different now. I've had a lot more heartburn since surgery and I find myself eating too often because I'm mistaking the gas/acid for hunger. As time goes on, it gets easier to tell the difference.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
