Was this acid reflux?

Recommended Posts

Out of nowhere tonight I suddenly felt like I had to vomit, 3 hours after I ate dinner. I spit up a lot of liquid, and had a horrible burning sensation in my throat, and taste in my mouth. I've never had acid reflux, I suppose that is what it was? I haven't been taking my prilosec the last few weeks, since I thought maybe after two months with no problem I was in the clear?

Questions -

I did really well yesterday at thanksgiving, except I ate a big chunk of skin from a deep fried Turkey. Could that trigger an attack over 24 hours later? It's the first time I've had anything that fatty in probably eight months. It was the only thing I've done out of the ordinary, today was back to my regular diet, although I did fund a beef Jerky with no carbs, and had about half an ounce of that with lunch.

I had pepcid complete in the house, and chewed one of those. I'll call the doctor tomorrow, but can I restart the prilosec tonight?

Should I sleep sitting up tonight? Would that help prevent another episode?

If that is what people with gerd go through, my sympathy level has just gone through the roof. What a miserable feeling.

So was the burning sensation before or after you threw up? If it was after that's not GERD that's stomach acid that was in your throat from vomitting. Talk to your Dr. Mine said to take the pills for three months.

Also keep in mind if you had any leftovers that had been sitting out for too long OR if so much hit food was jammed into the fridge that the fridge actually warmed up for a little while or some ingredient was on its expiration date on Thursday... Then it could just be from something askew with the food you ate several hours prior. That type of thing can take up to 36 hours to kick in.

Thanks, it was after. With gerd it's before? No leftovers or questionable food, and this felt completely different from "normal"vomiting. It took hours to feel better.
