I wish after surgery I thought things were too sweet like I hear many say. I still like to enjoy my cold brew tea & I add splenda. Love it. My NUT says splenda is okay... But I always like to hear your opinion too.

You will get a wide range of answers. I use it. If your nutritionist approves then give it a try. Biggest problem is it can cause the same blood spikes as sugar can so make sure it doesn't make you crave more sweets/simple carbs.

I've read that Truvia is a much better choice. Because Splenda is said to do some unhealthy things to your stomach and other bad side effects.

I'd research the side effects of Splenda ans do a comparison between the two.

What is Splenda supposed to do to your stomach? I haven't seen that research. Can you share? I had heard about effects on blood sugar but not stomach. Would love to be more informed

Truvia is a brand name for stevia which is made from the leaf of a stevia plant. I like it in some things but it definitely has its own taste to it not just sweet so I don't like it in coffee.< /p>

I have tried one of them before and I don't remember which one it was, but it was not just a sweet taste, it has a more offensive taste to it to me personally. I wish I remember which one it was I tried, Truvia or Stevia. I want something that will taste sweet & not put on weight like real sugar will please

No artificial sweetener is really that good for use. There are pros and cons to using them all of them as @@jess9395 pointed out. Even the sold called stevia is not real stevia. It's a processed stevia, usually mixed with dextrose or something to make it shelf stable. Stevia herb is green because it's just the dried leaves from the stevia plant ground to a powder. They also do the same thing with Monkfruit. This allows them to call monkfruit and stevia based sweeteners "all natural".

So I say, pick your poison and go with the one you like. I have used the monkfruit sweetener but ultimately I prefer raw honey or real sugar. I just plain for the extra calories. It's not the product that puts on the weight, it's the over use of it.

I agree . I've always heard that if you need sweeteners just use the real thing in moderation. That's the key.

I'd go with what your NUT is OK with - honestly, you're going to get opinions all over the map about Splenda. Personally, there isn't enough evidence out there about possible this or maybe that. I use it. It doesn't affect my blood sugar at all. Remember that a study that finds X is true for some of the people some of the time isn't necessarily true for you.

Truvia is a brand name of stevia. They are the same thing and both have that taste. I don't find it offensive but it definitely has a flavor and I can't put it in coffee. Splenda is a brand name for sucralose.

Yup that's why I said stevia is made from the stevia leaf, it isn't just pure stevia lead.

Agave nectar is another choice... Brown rice Syrup, maple syrup... Try them all see what you like. Heck I even use some things with nutra-sweet/aspratame on occasion.

I figure I have so many less vices than before and I use it so sparingly it's ok!

TRUVIA IS NOT STEVIA! Read the package of TRUVIA and you'll find it is mostly Sucralose and a small part stevia. If you're sensitive to Splenda, then stay away from Truvia and Stevia in the Raw. Real stevia is best as a liquid and does offer some sweetness, but not as much as Sucralose--so big food companies add it in a blend.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
