I just had a movie size pack of MM's peanut. 220 calories per serving. And there were 2.5 servings per box. And only 4 grams of Protein per serving. OMG why am I having these moments of weakness. I should have reached for a Luna Protein Bar. I need some ideas.

Ideas?

Stick to single-serving size packaging if you choose to buy something prepackaged.

Better alternatives/choices:

Protein Bar

Protein shake

Nuts

Edame

Dried Veggies

Dried fruit

Fresh fruit

cheese

Protein chips or Snacks (I like Mr. cheese O's, and Kay's Naturals lately).

Jerky

Peanut Butter

Think protein first and I'm sure you can come up with some good ideas.

Almost 7 weeks out and I bought myself a think thin Protein bar for the first time. 20 grams of Protein and zero sugar. I'm traveling tomorrow and wanted to keep some healthy snack with me. Also, have some raw almonds and will grab Water at the airport because they won't let me bring my own.

So far after post op all I have had is low fat string cheese, almonds and a small piece of banana for snack. I would like to add Jerky to my list down the road.

I've observed / learned over a lifetime of struggling with my own weight that when I haven't stocked the right foods in the house / purse / car / wherever and PLANNED what to eat that will be good for me, I'm much more susceptible to buying and eating whatever the hell is around and readily available.

My shrink calls this acting impulsively. And he doesn't mean it in a good way. ;)

Good news is that we're not condemned to behaving impulsively. All we have to do is PLAN.

You have probably heard that old saying: "Failing to plan is planning to fail." That certainly applies to me.

Forgive yourself. And learn from that experience. That's what everyone who succeeds does.

@@Sexy Granny

from one grammy to a granny

What did you eat?? :o

M&M's have no sugar, calories, fat, carbs

plenty of protein!!! right????

i don't think so

Moments of weakness??

Knock it off!!LOL

happens to the best of us

i know you will work hard on doing better

but................shitttt happens

as others have said a Protein bars are great

nuts are good too, but measured amount is too small for me

baby bel cheese

pkg of Cabot Serious Snacks (that is what they are called)

sharp cheddar cheese (80 calories)

doesn't show Protein amount (which is usually a bad sign)

but cheese and protein usually go hand in hand

beef jerkey

you "might" not like this suggestion

but..............i always bring my Water jug (64 0z)

go to the counter and ask them to fill with ice and water

they always do it for me

probably because "i'm cute as a button"

water gives me a fuller feeling (not perfect but helps)

if i'm not mistaken @@Elode

you posted Water doesn't fill you up

memory still working kiddo???

i buy a 10 pkg box of Pop-Secret Kettle Corn for my pantry

one small pkge = 100 calories

i will nuke one bag and sneak into theater

or eat watching tv (not a good habit)

i know their are carbs and other bad junk

but as a rare treat - i will eat one pkg

(i haven't been shot yet!!)

popcorn might not be the best suggestion

7 months PO, right??

not a newbie - not a vet - right between

maybe hold off on the popcorn for now!!

good luck

One simplistic way to deal with that is to not keep tempting junk like that around.

I say that, yet I've had three bags of Halloween candy sitting here in a candy jar and have avoided it. No longer have any cravings for sugary stuff. So dang grateful.

The movies are a weak spot for me too. candy doesn't fill up a sleeve and it's easy to overdo it. This is likely an old habit that but you in the butt.

My advice, move on. And have a plan for the future.

When I go to the movies I take a small bag of candy with me and share it with my kids. I find a few pieces satisfies me. I also take my lunch or dinner! A sandwich, buy a hot dog... I know I like to eat at the movies so I take the food I should be eating with me rather than going for movie theater food.

I also do popcorn with a touch of butter. It's not that high calorie and you can have a lot for a little.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
