9 months out hair loss still a concern

Recommended Posts

At the start of my journey i was 100lbs overweight. 9 months in i have lost 76lbs and on target to reach my goal on feb 26th 2016. This is the best decision i made however.... The Hair loss is showing no sign of subsiding... Its really bad to the point where its very noticeable and i can no longer do anything with it. It sticks up like static and the receding hair line is making me look older than my years any advice??

I was told that once you stop actively losing weight, the Hair loss will stop as well. If you are concerted I would go see a dermatologist. In the short term, I would also explore wig options. It will mean less manipulation of your existing hair and may also be good for the self esteem.

I added a powdered marine collagen and a liquid silica to my Water every day and they have made a huge difference for me. I get both from Amazon. My hair is thicker and not as dry and brittle.

I had tried many things and this helped me the most.

Congrats on the terrific progress!!

Wondering, though, are you getting all the required Protein each day? Sometimes not getting enough will exacerbate Hair loss.< /p>

I feel your pain here. I'm 7 months out and I've lost lots of hair. I got dermatch, a powder product I ordered online to cover up any bald Patches if I feel really insecure about it. Otherwise, I blow dry my hair with a bit of a comb over.

I get plenty of Protein and I've been taking Biotin since before the surgery and I use the nioxin Shampoo and conditioner. I don't think any of these things have made an impact on the Hair loss. It was heaviest months 3-6, it isn't as heavy now but it's still coming out.

It's a pain in the neck but I much prefer losing the weight and I look so much better in other ways that I just don't stress about the hair loss. I hope once my weight stabilizes some of it will grow back. Hang in there, it's worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
