I'm kind of scared!!!! I haven't been afraid, but I am now! I'm 44 and weight 240lbs! Time to fix me! I haven't done very well with my pre-op diet :( is that an indication of how I am going to do after surgery? I emotionally eat and going through some very messed up life issues. :( wish me luck!!

Oh, any tips on food journals? An online tracker??

I'm scheduled for surgery on December 9th. I started my pre-op liquid diet today. Not too hard yet but just thinking about no food worries me. I want this so bad so I will do the work to get there. Just remember if you don't shrink your liver they might not do the surgery. And if you don't practice eating like this now, you may end up not losing like you want to. Good luck with your surgery and stay focused. You can do this!

I found it is so much of a mind set. I did pretty well on my liquid pre op diet but I did cheat. Once I saw it wasn't going to kill me I handled it pretty well. I never did think I was starving. Now post op and eating cream of wheat, dressing, yogurt, mashed taters. I'm glad thanksgiving is over. Now I can concentrate on low carbs and high Protein and do what I'm supposed to do.

I'm having surgery the 1st as well and I am scared too. I have never had surgery before so I'm kind of freaking out. The Pre-op diet is hard but I'm down 16lbs from it.

I am about 3 weeks out from surgery, and I am freaking out too! I am excited, but I also feel a lot of anxiety. You can do it! We all can!!!

As for food tracker, I use the app My Fitness Pal. It's really helpful!!

Mine's on December 8th and I've been on the pre-op diet for six days now. It's actually been easier than I expected (and I didn't ever think it'd be too difficult).

I use My Fitness Pal, too.

My surgery is December 2nd. I'm getting nervous, and also very excited. I have done okay on my pre-op, I have been keeping myself very busy and it seems to help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
