No, I can't say that I have. Not any more than I usually am. Which was a lot. But it is important that you have a great support system in place right now. That is very important.

Feel better soon

Sometimes feelings that we have been stuffing down with food for years kind of "bubble up" when we stop stuffing them down. Try journaling, a nap, a long bath, talking to a supportive friend (and please avoid those who are not supportive at least till you feel stronger). I hate to sound hokey but let yourself feel those feelings, embrace the tears, be kind to yourself. A lot of what we do with food and other addictions is try to avoid pain, but we wind up only causing ourselves more pain in the end. So know that this is just part of the process of letting these feelings, as painful as they may be, wash over you, feel them experience them, embrace them, and then let them go. I like to russet it to popping a painful zit that has been brewing and causing you discomfort and pressure just below the surface of your skin. It can be temporarily painful to pop it but such a relief to purge that pore. Emotionally there is quite a bit brewing just below the surface as well. When you are healing from surgery, it is important to work on healing your emotional issues as well. Many of us work with a qualified therapist to help us through this process and it is something to consider. Telling your story whether in a private journal or here in a blog is helpful as well. Take care of yourself????

Yes, ma'am. I was right after, and still am now. Not just because we've lost an old coping mechanism and everything has changed - not that it isn't enough - but be aware that weight loss can result in some hormone fluctuations too. It's not ALL in your head, some of it is purely physical :).

Just be kind to yourself!

@@tracy amanda- I had the same problems as you. One of the things that I did during this early weeks is increase my anxiety/I depression medication that I am taking. That helps with a lot of the emotional stuff. Talk to your doctor he might prescribe say Ativan or Xanax or something to help you get it.

Hormones are out of whack. I am sorry to say- it might get worse. At about 3 month my anxiety went back to normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
