Hmm...Interesting that you should ask this...I was told from the very beginning that rice was a "forever No-No"...and my nutritionist strongly advised the we implement "ricing cauliflower" in a food processor in lieu of any recipes we enjoyed that called for rice.

Amazingly enough, it is WONDERFUL. I'm barely a week post-op, so I'm in the full-liquid diet phase of recovery; however, I tried the riced cauliflower before my surgery--and I'll be fine with the substitution for the long haul.

I'd check with your nutritionist...to make absolutely sure.

Rice will be one of the last things you will be able to eat. At least 6 weeks, but it would be better to wait a few months. It expands in the stomach and is hard to digest. It's not something you can eat right away.

Not at 7 days. Beans and rice will likely be one of the last things you can have. I know it's tough, but at 7 days post op there is very little holiday food you can partake of.

It's not forever, but you will want to limit it since it's a processed carb. Cauliflower rice is a good substitute and if you add the same seasonings like you would when making rice & Beans would probably taste pretty good. However that's still probably nothing you should have until at least 6 weeks out.

I'm almost two years out and rice is one of the things that still causes me pain to eat. I think I am in the minority on that, but I have pretty much given it up because the few times I've tried it (including once on accident) I have been miserable.

Sorry, but rice is reallllllly hard to eat. It expands in your stomach. I puke with white rice almost every time.

Brown rice is a little better. It took a year to eat rice.

How far out can you have rice and Beans im Dominican and it's hard to not eat rice I'm 7 days post op

Hi. How are you? Where are you from?

As for your question, I'm 6 months post op , Puerto Rican and I loved my rice and beans lol. I can say I still enjoy the great flavors we have in the beans and would have a spoon of rice maybe once a month just to get rid of the urge. It does me me feel full faster but again it's once a month. I didn't try rice until after 16 weeks post op.

Heres a recent pic from yesterday

Not exactly you can have brown or black rice in limited quantities. Black rice also contains Protein as well as all that good Fiber.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
