wright325 0 Posted November 25, 2015 Hi! I just discovered this app and have been reading like crazy! I have battle losing and gaining weight for 20 years. I started looking into WLS about a year ago and then finally took the plunge 6 months ago. I completed all the classes and tests the dr recommended and now have a surgery date of 12.7.15. I'm beyond excited!! However, I'm nervous about Thanksgiving tomorrow. I have been very disciplined up until now but since I'm on a liquid diet for 2 weeks I'm just scared all mess up tomorrow surrounded by food. My family is all supportive and I don't want to skip out on the time I will be able to spend with them. I have mixed feelings because the dietician says only liquid Proteins but I read I could eat lean proteins. I don't want to mess myself up but I'd also love to eat a small piece of turkey too. Just need some encouragement I guess.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted November 25, 2015 Congratulations on taking such a big step toward health. Best of luck with your journey. As to whether or not you can have turkey tomorrow, why not give your NUT a call and ask. It is very important to follow your pre-op plan, but if you are ever in doubt then just ask. Halfagain 68 Posted November 25, 2015 Please be sure where you read information on the pre-op diet came only from your nutritionist and not from someone's post online. Our orders for the pre-ops and phasing back to solid foods vary greatly from surgeon to surgeon. If your doctors office approved it, go for it!
jane13 2,256 Posted November 25, 2015 @@wright325 - ALWAYS contact your medical team, if in doubt especially now in the pre-op phase. It may or may not be ok to eat a small piece of turkey tomorrow since surgery is on the 7th of December. If surgery was tomorrow your answer would probably be no, period. Congratulations on getting your new Birthday scheduled!
hildaruiz29 16 Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) Remember every dr has their own protocol so check with your surgeon and his staff. Check Dr.Matthew Wiener on YouTube search on Eating After Bariatric Surgery Edited November 25, 2015 by hildaruiz29
wright325 0 Posted November 25, 2015 Thank you for the encouragement. I'm just gonna avoid it to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry. I just found the papers the NUT gave me when I started this and meat of any kind is not on the list so better stick with the plan they have me on!!
