Female problems post op...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Sleeved on the 19th, 5 days post op. I got my period a week before surgery, it ended a couple of days prior to surgery and now I'm spotting, or possibly starting my period again. I am on the mini pill, and I was late taking my pill on first day post op because I was npo. Is this normal?!

Thanks everyone!!

It certainly can be. Even the stress of surgery can cause an irregularity. If you're very concerned, call your gyne. And don't forget to use something else for birth control this month since you were late a day.

after surgery there is no such thing as normal. I think anything is possible. Be on the look out for more or less than normal. After surgery, I missed a month and then the following months were PURE HELL!!! Now 8 months later I am sorta back to normal.

I posted a thread awhile back about what to pack for the hospital, and someone mentioned bringing pads since sometimes all of the drastic change can cause your period to start. I'm guessing it's not too abnormal. Other than that, how are you feeling?

I'm feeling ok. A bit tired but I had a lot of nausea/vomitting post op. I feel like I'm doing ok. 5 days post op and I got 44oz of Fluid in and 1 Protein Shake. For a total of 36g. Protein. I'm having a hard time getting in 3 shakes , it makes me nauseated and then I don't want to drink for a couple hours

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
